Origami Chinese Thread Book / Zhen Xian Bao

This is Chinese Thread Box or Zhen Xian Bao, I made for my friend's Birthday.  This is made entirely by folding paper, no glue or tape and there are 31 boxes.  I had hoped to put some skeins of DMC in the boxes but it made them too bulky to close so I popped in stickers and charms instead.

The whole box:

There are 16 boxes this size:

8 boxes this size:

4 of this size:

2 in this format:

And one large one which forms the base of the piece:

This is the tutorial I followed to make it:

My paper was a little thicker than they used, so I didn't make the fancy flower shapes on the top 16 boxes!

World Book Day 2021

Sadly, the shop was closed during March 2021 but I painted and hid a couple of rocks when we were allowed to do so again.

Ickabog Rocks

To celebrate the release of the new J.K. Rowling book, The Ickabog, I painted some rocks to give out with pre-orders of the book:

I actually did 10 different versions with different background colours.
And didn't photograph them!

Some motifs from the cover

From a previous event, two rocks for two of our favourite customers:

There's a Witch in your Book

For Hallowe'en this year, we gave out rocks from a bucket instead of hiding them in the shop.

Most were older but I painted these little witches from Tom Fletcher's book, There's a Witch in your Book:
